About me

Hi, my name is Sean Mcloughlin. I live in Princes Risborough in the UK. I moved here from Africa. I have been doing martial arts since I was 5 years old. Over the years I have done various types of martial arts. Firstly Shukokai ( Japanese Karate Style ) and then I started training Shaolin King Fu with with my dad, where I studied Wing Chun and Wa Lum. I moved to Scotland and did Aikido but I found that it was not very practical. When I moved back to Africa I studied Mixed Martial Arts, Vale Tudo. Being a gentle character, I found this was an eye opener or should I say, eye closer due to all the black eyes I got. I enjoyed it and it truly opened my eyes as to what real fighting was about. However as I got older I wanted more internal gratification. My dad Michael Mcloughlin was studying and teaching Tai Chi in Cape Town, South Africa. When I was younger I thought it was just too slow and not very exciting. I was running a company in Johannesburg and I finally had a nervous break down. So I packed it all up and moved back to Cape Town. After seeing a few psychiatrists and being administered anti anxiety and depression pills which made me a walking Zombie, I thought the end of the world was near… I hate taking pills. So I looked for alternatives. I finally started training with my dad.

My Dad spent many years searching for a good Teacher. There are a lot of instructors out there teaching Tai Chi but don’t fully understand what they are teaching. They have either been taught the wrong thing or they just don’t care and do it to make money. It took me a while to realise just how lucky I was. My dads Teacher is Grandmaster Lin Feng-Chao from Taiwan, a closed door disciple of Chen Man Ching. What my dad taught me is rather rare. Tai Chi is only effective if it is taught correctly using the correct principles. I think it is selfish if I don’t share this knowledge. So I have decided to teach and pass it on. I invite you to come join me on my journey of learning and hopefully one day master an art that has been practiced for a thousand of years.
